en Instructions for using the Solenoid Tester program.

The program allows you to visually view pressure data and control the duration of the test and the PWM (pulse width modulation) filling frequency using buttons.

The program is available in three versions: WHITE, BLACK, and FULL. The difference between the programs is that the FULL program displays the complete pressure graph stretched along the X-axis (horizontal).

In the WHITE and BLACK programs, only the ascending and descending pressure graphs are displayed and overlapped in one field. Straight sections of the graph that do not contain useful information are not displayed. This is done so that the overlapping graphs intersect in the center. In Figures 1 and 2, you can compare the graphs.

Main fields of the solenoid test program Solenoidtester.

Figure 5. Main fields of the solenoid test program Solenoidtester.

The main button for activating the solenoid testing mode is “PWM TEST.” When pressed, it applies voltage to the solenoid from 0 volts to 12 volts and back from 12 volts to 0 volts. Thus, the solenoid gradually opens and closes (or vice versa, depending on the type of solenoid). Information about the pressure is displayed on the graph. On the graph, the X-axis (horizontal) represents the PWM fill (analogous to the percentage of voltage from 12 volts). The Y-axis (vertical) displays the relative pressure in BAR. The number of test cycles can be changed in the field “Number of test cycles.

The field 'Test ON/OFF' is necessary for a one-second test. It is used for the initial cleaning of the test solenoid. In the 'Number of test cycles' field, this should be set to a value of at least 10.

The button 'Clear graph' clears the entire graph area.

The coefficient in the 'Sensor at ... bar' field has a relative correlation with the actual pressure on the sensor. The Y-axis coefficient can be adjusted by manually entering the pressure coefficient in the 'Sensor at' field. This field allows the use of a pressure sensor with a maximum pressure ranging from 100 PSI (6.9 BAR) to 150 PSI (10.3 BAR) and stretches the readings on the BAR axis to 100 percent. The figure shows my working modes for the pressure sensor at 150 PSI.

For visual convenience when viewing the graph, there is a 'Color' field. When selecting a color from this field, NEW test graphs will display the chosen color from the palette. This makes it easy to compare tests of different solenoids on the same graph.
